1) OFFENSIVE POSTS
Members need to be aware that although this is a public forum and everyone has freedom of speech, they are requested to respond in an inoffensive manner. This does not mean that you have to agree with someone when you actually don't... just show respect to other members. If a member is found to be offensive or disrespectful they will be sent an email to alert them to the material that has brought concern and advised that it will be changed on their behalf. This is to prevent members’ posts being removed. (Strike 1).
If they continue to act in this manner they will get a second alert email (Strike 2).
If it continues they will be banned from the forum (Strike 3).
2) SECURITY
2.1 Steps will be taken against any member that is found to be giving their log in details to someone else to use their account. Remember that passwords are there to protect all members. If this or any other site didn't need protection, a password wouldn't be requested.
2.2 Please remember that this is a public forum and only share personal details like your name and wedding information etc at your own discretion.
When referring to another member, we advise everyone to use each others user names for security purposes as well as to avoid confusion between new members and members that you do not know personally.
3) ADVERTISEMENT/ BUYING AND SELLING
3.1 SOSN is not against any legitimate advertisement or praise for a service received. However, for those who are advertising a service, buying or selling a product etc please note that SOSN forum is in no way liable for any transaction or agreement that takes place between yourselves and the buyer. If you encounter a problem we will endeavour to help in all possible ways.
3.2 For those buying from any sellers on SOSN forum, advice is given to pay by PayPal to give you some form of protection. If you have any queries before making a commitment to a seller, please contact AdminIsMe via email/PM who may be able to advise you.
4) MODERATION SYSTEM
We now have a system commonly used on public forums where a new member is under 'moderation' with their posts for a short while to protect the current regular members. This is in no way to cause upset with members and is automatic to every new member.
5) MOVED POSTS
From time to time, threads will be posted in a section that isn't the best place for them; therefore a moderator will move this thread to a more suitable section on behalf of the original poster. If a thread of yours has been moved and you can not view it, click on the ‘View posts since last visit’ link and this will take you to the list of new posts, the moved thread should be in there. If you are having trouble locating your thread, please contact a mod or post in the ‘Help! I’m stuck’ section and someone will help you.
6) CHANGES TO POST TITLES
In order to locate a post easier, the moderators may sometimes 're-title' a post, i.e. 'Bill Bailey DVD' to 'FOR SALE> Bill Bailey DVD'. As you can see, the content is unchanged but it will help others to read it and will also keep the forum tidy. Members are not to worry about, or expected to post in this format, this is a job for the moderators.
7) CHANGING USER NAMES
If you need to change your user name please send a request to AdminIsMe by either email or PM. This is to avoid confusion amongst fellow users who could be talking to someone they know and not even realise it. Please state your new user name and the reason for the change (marriage, personal reason etc). Upon receipt AdminIsMe will reply. An Example: ‘MrsV2B’ got married so she sends an email/PM to AdminIsMe requesting to be changed to ‘MrsV’, her new user name will become ‘MrsV (nee MrsV2B)’. The member then when they feel that the ‘(neeMrsV2B)’ has been there for long enough that the other members know who they are, they are required to send a request to AdminIsMe for it to be removed, and then it will stay as ‘Mrs V’. If a request has not been received for aprox 1-2 months, AdminIsMe will change it automatically to ‘Mrs V’.
