FIL's car had broken down, and he's been borrowing my car. He went to get a part for it today, and on the way back some *%&^**&^%$ cut him up (instead of going round a small one way system they cut through the middle) so FIL tried to slam on the brakes, his foot slipped and went on the throttle and went into the back of this car, and in turn pushed it into another car (at a junction).

FIL can't say whether or not he would have braked in time if his foot hadn't slipped.

All was ok, no one was injured, just a bit shook up.

But my car's buggered... It was too late to be looking properly, but the bonnet, grill and front bumper will definitely need to be replaced, iffy if both the front wings will need doing, all the lights bar 1, and no one's even looked inside to see if the actual radiator or chassis itself is damaged.

It's very likely going to be a write off.

And the worst part, it's not covered under insurance (not me driving, but I've only got 3rd party anyway) and only the damage to the other people's cars will be covered under FIL's insurance.

***** great Sad

Still no real idea of the extent of the damage.

FIL said he's "managed to straighten the bonnet"  Shocked Hmmmmm.... He's no panel beater Shocked

Apparently another half an inch and the radiator would have had it, but it looks ok...

Ugh, just what I needed!

Oh hun, not what you need right now. Has your FIL offered to pay for any of the repairs. It might just be me but I would expect at least an offer, I know it wasn't his fault completely but any offer would be so appreciated I'm sure.

Is the car drivable?

Feels like one thing after another, just when I think I can't take anymore I get more thrown at me.

The car is a write off. The radiator's bust, and on top of everything else, it's just not economical to fix it.

What's gonna happen now? Your guess is as good as mine. FIL has an "it'll do" attitude, and has done nothing but moan recently about how skint he is and how he wants to replace his car but can't afford to... and Paul has never grown a back bone to stand up to him.

And now, with 6 weeks to the wedding, where I REALLY NEEDED my car, I'm without one. Happens all the time, oh Ann's at home, you can borrow her car... FFS! When *I* need it, I don't flippin well have it!!

I'm pissed off Evil or Very Mad Everyone keeps saying "it's just a car, no one was hurt" but you know what, this affects NO ONE else but me!!! *I* am the one that has to have my life made more difficult.

I said to in-laws, well at least if it's pouring it down, could you get the kids from school for me (I'm out of the house at 2.30, pick Callum up at 2.45 (so he's outside) Shannon at 3, and Aiden at 3.15 then get home at 3.30... His answer... "I can give you an umbrella" Rolling Eyes
